TRANSITION AREA NOTES
__________________________

The race transition area is organized based on your assigned race number.  Each bike rack ROW is also marked with a sign to help you find your row as you complete your swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transitions.

400 Meter Sprint | 1100 Meter Olympic

The swim takes place in Cheatham Lake, part of the Cumberland River system. See the swim map for layout and be sure to listen to race staff instructions at the swim start should there be any changes to course design on race morning.

The swim will be conducted in a time-trial fashion. Race numbers are assigned to clubs/teams then by estimated swim time for non club members. A racer will enter the water approximately every 3 seconds, with relay teams and aquabike starting by swim time mixed in with individuals. Course buoys are placed to help racers to stay on course. To assist you in determining your swim time, follow this pace chart provided by US Masters Swimming.

There will be no moving up in swim order on race day. The race order is pre-assigned and you may move back in the order if you so choose.

USA Triathlon Wet Suit Rules:
An official temperature will be announced on race morning.

Article 4.4: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards.

The Olympic run course takes you out to the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail where you'll be surrounded by the sounds of nature and the color of wildflowers. The Bicentennial Trail on the Olympic course is flat and shaded, making it an ideal course for the run. The Sprint run course turns around prior to reaching the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail.
