The main venue encompasses downtown highlights: Riverfront Park for the swim (with a start from the Harriott II Riverboat) the Union Station Train Shed for the race transition area, and a race finish + post-race celebration at the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball Field.

TRANSITION AREA NOTES

The race transition area is organized based on your assigned race number. The bike racks are marked by ranges of "7" numbers, beginning with 1 through 7 and so on. Each bike rack ROW is also marked with a sign to help you find your row as you complete your swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transitions. Bikes do not have to be racked in numerical order ON the rack, but must be placed on the rack designated for your race number range.





Intermediate 1.5k | Sprint 400m 

The Intermediate and Sprint swim course are point-to-point swims starting from the Harriott II Riverboat. Course buoys are placed to keep racers to stay on course.

There will be no moving up in swim order on race day. Pre-register by the Wednesday night before the race to get a spot in the swim order!!!! All registrants after that time will have the UPPER numbers and starting at the rear.

The swim will be conducted in a time-trial fashion. Race numbers are assigned by estimated swim time. A racer will enter the water approximately every 3 seconds, with relay teams starting before individuals. Aquabike racers will start based on estimated swim time. To assist you in determining your swim time, follow this pace chart provided by US Masters Swimming. Cyclorun racers will be advised when they can leave on the bike, as soon as the first swimmer enters the transition area.

Bring your wetsuit! The water temperature in early May is historically between 65F - 70F.  Look for updates on your pre-race email race week.

USA Triathlon Wet Suit Rules:

Article 4.4: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards.



Intermediate 40k | Sprint 20k

Both distances will follow the same course with the Intermediate distance completing two loops. This is a flat course with very little elevation change! The course will be on city roads and managed by local police and volunteers. Make certain to follow their direction for a safe, enjoyable ride. Check out the map links below for your race.

COURSE SUPPORT: Montgomery Multisport will be at the race transition area pre-race & on the course during the race for support.


IMPORTANT NOTE: FOLLOWING USAT RULES ON THE BIKE COURSE: The return route from the bike turnaround directs bikers into the left lane and they are separated by vehicular traffic in the right lane. Please keep in mind that USAT rules apply as always to ride to the RIGHT in your designated bike lane. 



Intermediate 10k | Sprint 5k

The course is primarily the same as 2017 (which changed from previous years) with the exception of a move of the finish line to Coosa Street, adjacent to the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball Field. See map links below for elevation information.

Please be aware there is a 3hr45min time limit for the intermediate race. This race is in an urban setting in downtown Montgomery, which is a great atmosphere but also requires we limit the allowed time to finish. Anyone that needs to can change to the sprint race as a result of this limit, pre race or during the race. Just notify race staff of your change.
