WELCOME TO THE STERNE AGEE LJCC TRIATHLON!
Team Magic has joined forces with the Birmingham Area Levite Jewish Community Center to revive a beginner friendly triathlon similar to our "tri-it-on" triathlon previously held at the YMCA Mountain Brook. In addition to the "road version" of the triathlon, due to the LJCC's unique urban mountain bike trails, an "off road" bike segment is also being offered.
Levite Jewish Community Center is a center open to everyone. At its 3960 Montclair Road campus it features state-of-the-art fitness equipment; more than 65 group fitness classes every week (all free to members); expert, friendly personal trainers; an indoor pool and 8,000-square-foot outdoor pool; a scenic wilderness biking and hiking trail; instruction, programs and team sports including swimming, diving, tennis, soccer, racquetball as well as basketball for adults and kids; the NAEYC-accredited Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center; Theatre LJCC and entertainment opportunities for kids, adult and seniors. For more information or to join call 879-0411 and www.bhamjcc.org.
Plan to hang around for the Post-race Party and LJCC Pool Grand Opening with live entertainment by Stuart McNair Acoustic and beverages & food by MGD 64 & Mafiaozo's Pizza.
GREAT BEGINNER EVENT
To make this event attractive for a first triathlon the distances have been kept fairly short and the swim will be in the LJCC outdoor pool. The event is open to all competitors - drawing a great mix of beginners and experienced racers. So, don't put it off. This race is for EVERYONE.

(200 yard swim / 8 mile rd or 5 mile mtn bike / 2 mi run)
The Swim: The swim is in the LJCC outdoor pool. You will enter the pool in an "interval start" fashion. Participants line up by race number (beginning with the lowest number to the highest.) Your race number is assigned based on the estimated swim time you provided when you registered. You can choose to line up at the end if you prefer. One person at a time enters the pool and begins swimming when given the start command. Swim down the first lane, touch the wall, go under the lane rope, swim down that lane, and continue the same process until you exit after swimming four lengths for a total of 200 meters. While you are entering the pool by estimated swim time, someone may need to pass you. When you exit the pool, volunteers will direct you to the transition area where you will begin your bike segment of the race.
The Bike: The bike course is an out-and-back course on Montclair Road for the "road" version and the off-road version is on the mountain bike trails located directly behind the LJCC facility.
The Run: The run course will be 2 miles total - one mile out and one mile back on on side walk and some nicely surfaced "off road" trails through a pretty wooded section just adjacent to Montclair Road.

Important Note About Our Event Awards
Team Magic hopes you will join us after each race for the awards ceremony - this is the grand finale of each event and is held very soon after the final race finisher.
Our awards are most often product awards and a recognition award of your placement. We do not ship awards or make them available for pick up after the awards ceremony is completed. Please make arrangements for someone to pick up your award at the event or plan on staying for the awards ceremony. Award categories are available on each race web page.
Preliminary results will be posted as soon as possible at the race site - the location will be announced by our race announcer. If you see that you will be receiving an award but cannot stay for the ceremony, please designate a fellow racer, friend, or volunteer to claim your award. All awards not claimed at the race site will be distributed to race sponsors, city officials, race supporters and at future race prize drawings.
Complete race results will be posted on our web site as soon as possible after each event, usually within 24 hours.
