COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

HALF-MARATHON COURSE DESCRIPTION
A fun mix of paved trail through the Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park "back country" along with stretches on the Gulf State Park main drive and the beach front road.

 

5K & 1 MILE RUN DESCRIPTION
Both the 5k run & 1 mile run start behind the soccer fields on the service road and proceed west on the trail like the 1/2 Marathon course. The 5k will turn around at 1.5 miles and the 1 mile will turn around at a 1/2 mile. Both runs go straight back to the start line, which is now the race finish line. The 5k & 1 mile run will be completely on the paved backcountry trail.

All courses are USATF certified courses beginning and finishing at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

 

Water and Heed by Hammer Nutrition will be available between every 1 to 1.25 miles on the half-marathon course and at mile 1 and 2 on the 5k course.

 

Hammergel will be offered at Water Station #3, #6 & #9.

There will be a portalet near mile 4.5 & 6.5 and restrooms near mile 9 & between mile 11 & 12.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. NOT allowed...wheelchairs, pets, baby strollers, roller blades, head sets.

2. You are running a counter-clockwise course, so you will be running "against traffic" on the segments not on the Back Country Paved Trail. Please run AGAINST the traffic (so stay to your left) on the State Park Road 2 and E. Beach Blvd/Hwy 182 segments from around mile 3 to mile 6-1/2.

All Team Magic events are timed using IPICO chip or shoe tag timing. These chips/tags are the property of Team Magic Inc. You will receive a racing chip/tag on race morning. You must show your bib number to receive the chip/tag to insure your race results are accurate. If you lose or do not return the chip/tag - you will be charged a $15 replacement fee. An additional $1 a day fee is added for any chip not returned after 7 days. Volunteers will be at the finish line to collect all chips.

 

Helpful tips:
1. Secure the timing chip / shoe tag with zip tie provided at chip pick up.
2. No Timing Chip = No Time
3. Double check and make sure the timing chip is securely fastened and will stay on during your run.

Online registration closes at midnight on the Tuesday before the race but you can register at the race site on Friday/Saturday

6:30 AM - 7:30 AM - Packet Pick Up & Late Registration OPEN

8:00 AM - Half-Marathon Starts
8:10 AM - 5K & 1 mile runs start
9:30 AM - 5k Marathon Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.
11:00 AM - 1/2 Marathon Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.
12:00 PM - All Half-Marathon entrants must have completed the course. This requires a pace of about 18 minutes per mile for walkers.

 

POST RACE ACTIVITIES

Stay around for a great post race party - BEER by Miller Genuine Draft Lite 64 and great food from many local restaurants including Tacky Jacks Bar and Grill.

Race Results: Will be posted at the event site www.team-magic.com as soon as possible and will be available online within 24 hours of the race.

Important Note About Our Event Awards

Team Magic hopes you will join us after each race for the awards ceremony - this is the grand finale of each event and is held very soon after the final race finisher.

 

Our awards are most often product awards and a recognition award of your placement. We do not ship awards or make them available for pick up after the awards ceremony is completed. Please make arrangements for someone to pick up your award at the event or plan on staying for the awards ceremony. Award categories are available on each race web page.

 

Preliminary results will be posted as soon as possible at the race site - the location will be announced by our race announcer. If you see that you will be receiving an award but cannot stay for the ceremony, please designate a fellow racer, friend, or volunteer to claim your award. All awards not claimed at the race site will be distributed to race sponsors, city officials, race supporters and at future race prize drawings.

 

Complete race results will be posted on our web site as soon as possible after each event, usually within 24 hours.

Confirmation Packages & Race Information

A confirmation notice will be e-mailed to all entrants. You will receive a race instruction booklet with your race packet at packet pick up & in your confirmation email. PLEASE review the race information inside the booklet for the most current wave start times and other important race weekend announcements. RACE BOOKLETS AND CONFIRMATION PACKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED IN ADVANCE. If you do not have an email address, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope with your race entry and your confirmation information will be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service.

 

Refund Policy:
Team Magic has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial credits for cancellations during our cancellation periods.

A credit for 50% of your race registration fee will be offered until 21 prior to the race date.

Credits can be used to register for another Team Magic event and will be valid for 12 months after the event date.

 

In order to receive the credit, log-in to www.imATHLETE.com, select "My Events" and click "Manage Registration" on the event you'd like to cancel.

 

Event Cancellation or Modification Policy:
If Natural Disaster or Community Disaster occurs, our action steps are as follows:
1. Team Magic, Inc. in concert with local officials will make decisions based on safety first.
2. Courses and/or race segments will be altered as agreed to between Team Magic, Inc. and local officials
3. Financial: It is not financially feasible for Team Magic, Inc. to accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each registered participant needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to future races. The money you paid is spent developing the subject event.
4. Team Magic, Inc. does not save any money if one of our events has to be canceled or for reasons beyond our control. All supplies and services needed for the events are purchased and/or arranged in advance. All event supplies and services associated with that event must be paid for, regardless of the outcome.
