Coastal 1/2 Marathon & 5K

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The scenic USATF certified courses begin at the Orange Beach Sportsplex,  travels through the beautiful, shaded, paved backcountry trail, then progresses out and along the beach road for the half-marathon and ends back at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The 5k will be completely on the paved backcountry trail.

 

Water and Heed by Hammer Nutrition will be available between every 1 to 1-1/2 miles on the half-marathon course and at mile 1 and 2 on the 5k course.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. NOT allowed...wheelchairs, pets, baby strollers, roller blades, head sets.
2. We ask that you please run on the "shoulder" of the Hwy. 161 portion - it is the size of a car lane, so no worries. On the beach front road (Hwy 182/E. Beach Blvd.) please run in the bike/run lanes - again, there is plenty of room.
3. You are running a clockwise course, so you will be running "with traffic" although the entire course that is on roads (vs. the paved trail portion) does have a shoulder, a bike lane/running lane or a bike lane so you will have space. We also expect very low traffic on these segments. Hwy 161 and Hwy 182 are both 4-lane roads with cars being directed to the inside lanes in addition to the shoulder/bike-run lanes and the State Park Road 2 is VERY low traffic.

All Team Magic events are timed using IPCO chip or shoe tag timing. These chips/tags are the property of Team Magic Inc. You will receive a racing chip/tag on race morning. You must show your bib number to receive the chip/tag to insure your race results are accurate. If you lose or do not return the chip/tag - you will be charged a $15 replacement fee. An additional $1 a day fee is added for any chip not returned after 7 days. Volunteers will be at the finish line to collect all chips.

 

Helpful tips:
1. Secure the timing chip / shoe tag with zip tie provided at chip pick up.
2. No chip  - no time
3. Double check and make sure the timing chip is securely fastened and will stay on during your run.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

All event activities are held at the Orange Beach Sportsplex

 

Tuesday, November 28th at Midnight

Online registration closes at midnight on the Tuesday before the race but you can register at the race site on Friday/Saturday

3:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Packet Pick Up & Late Registration OPEN

 

Saturday
6:30 AM - 7:30 AM - Packet Pick Up & Late Registration OPEN

8:00 AM - Half-Marathon Starts
8:15 AM - 5K starts
11:00 AM - Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.
12:00 PM - All Half-Marathon entrants must have completed the course. This requires a pace of about 18 minutes per mile for walkers.

 

POST RACE ACTIVITIES

Stay around for a great post race party - BEER and food samplings from many local restaurants.

Also, don't miss the after party! We will be going to Tacky Jack's Bar & Grill to hang out and watch some of the biggest college football rivals play - including the Iron Bowl for you Alabama and Auburn fans!

Awards & Prizes

Over $5000 in prizes will be awarded. All award winners will receive a event plaque and Stuffits. Hammer Nutrition products, Shave Secret and many more product prizes to be given to award winners. Stay around for door prizes from our sponsors as well.

• Top 3 Masters overall
• Age groups in 5 year intervals from 14&under to 80+

 

• Technical shirts for half marathoners pre-registered by November 12th

Important note about awards: 1) Order must be placed three weeks (minimum) prior to race date 2) Awards ordered based on number of participants registered in each award category.

 

Race Results: Will be posted at the event site www.team-magic.com as soon as possible and will be available online within 24 hours of the race.

 

HOW TO RECEIVE AWARDS NOT PICKED UP:

All awards need to be "claimed" by one of the methods below with in 2 weeks following each race:
1. To receive your award via of US mail, download this form.
2. Local to Birmingham, AL contact therese@team-magic.com for instructions of immediate pickup
3. Local to Nashville, TN contact faye@team-magic.com for instructions of when your award will be available for pick up
4. You may also request your award to be brought to "registration" at the next Team Magic race, contact therese@team-magic.com

Confirmation Packages & Race Program

A confirmation notice will be e-mailed or U.S. Postal Service mailed to all entrants. You will receive a race program with your race packet at registration and packet pick up. PLEASE review the race information inside the program for the most current wave start times and other important race weekend announcements. RACE PROGRAMS AND CONFIRMATION PACKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED IN ADVANCE.

 

Refund Policy: Team Magic events have a NO REFUND policy. You have two options. ONE: A credit for 50% of the race registration fee will be offered until TWENTY ONE DAYS prior to the race date in question. TWO: You can request your race packet for the race in question up until the opening of late registration on race weekend. After that time, your packet will no longer be available.

In order to receive the credit or request your race packet, click 'Questions / Update Registration' on the Participants menu and enter your Event Confirmation Code from your receipt. After clicking 'Next' you will have an option for 'Cancel Registration'. Race registrations are non-transferable.
