Main Staging Area and Transition Flow
Located at the olympic size outdoor pool and deck area of the Cedars of Lebanon State Park.
The race transition area is organized based on your assigned race number. The bike racks are marked by ranges of "7" numbers, beginning with 1 through 7 and so on. Bikes do not have to be racked in numerical order ON the rack, but must be placed on the rack designated for your race number range. Sorry folks, for safety reasons, no balloons or items may be attached to racks to help you locate your spot. Feel free to bring your sidewalk chalk.
Site Layout (swim, transition flow, finish, check in, awards, food)
SWIM COURSE: 200 yards
Team Magic triathlons are started with interval swim starts based on each pre-registered racer's estimated swim time for the complete course distance. To assist you in determining your swim time, follow this pace chart provided by US Masters Swimming.
The swim is in the 50 yard outdoor pool. You will enter the pool in an "interval start" fashion. Participants line up by race number (beginning with the lowest number to the highest.) Race Numbers are assigned based on your estimated swim time you submitted when you registered. Racers are allowed to move to the back of the line to start. Your racking position in transition is also organized by your race number. One person at a time enters the pool and begins swimming when given the start command. Swim down the first lane, touch the wall, go under the lane rope, swim down that lane, and continue the same process until you exit after swimming 4 lengths for a total of 200 yards. When you exit the pool, volunteers will direct you to the transition area where you will begin your bike segment of the race.
There will be no moving up in swim order on race day. Pre-register by the Wednesday night before the race to get a spot in the swim order!!!! All registrants after that time will have the UPPER numbers and be starting at the rear, sorry, no exceptions.
BIKE COURSE: 9.6 miles | two 4.8 mile loops |
Enjoy this FLAT loop course on nicely paved roads. All turns will be right hand turns. Park Rangers and volunteer will be on the course to guide you, CAUTION: On the second loop racers will merge with bikes entering the bike course from the transition area for the first loop. BE AWARE! Volunteers will be in this area to help guide you if necessary.
RUN COURSE: 2 miles
This course is out-and-back on the state park roads, with some slight inclines and rollers and one short steep hill just before the finish. There will be one aid station as you exit the transition area and one aid station before and after Mile 1 where you take the out and back to the Group Lodge. REMINDER: Stay left throughout the course to avoid cross-over with other runners. CONES WILL SEPARATE RUNNERS FROM OUTBOUND TRAFFIC FOR A PORTION OF THE COURSE. IN THE CONED AREA, KEEP CONES TO YOUR RIGHT GOING OUT AND ON YOUR LEFT WHEN RETURNING TOWARD THE FINISH. RUNNERS WILL RUN IN THE INCOMING TRAFFIC LANE DURING THE CONED SECTION OF RUNNING. VOLUNTEERS WILL REMIND YOU.
