Following, Stephen Taylor will go over some Beginner Tips and field beginner questions, then transition into Technique Tips: Secrets of the Pro

Important race reminders

1.  Road conditions at the end of the bike course:

The road has been repaired on the shoulders and any potholes filled this week.  Hopefully this section of course will be paved for 2008, but it is definitely improved.  Just a reminder, we do cover two metal bridges on race morning, but still slow down and show caution in this area.  Just remember, the course from mile 13 - 16 is totally ridable, it is just a little bumpy.  If you ever ride Old Natchez, it is better than that in my opinion.

THE BASICS:

2. You must present a photo i.d. and your USAT membership card (if you are a member) to receive your race packet. If you have lost your USAT card, please go to www.usatriathlon.org to print a temporary card.

If you do not have your USAT card, you will be required to pay the $10 one day fee. If you do not have a photo id, you will not be able to race.

If you are not a USAT member, you likely paid your $10 fee with your registration fee, if not, you will be asked to pay at packet pick up.

All youth 17&Under must be USAT members or can purchase a full year membership for $5 at the race site.

3. Parking: Volunteers will direct you to parking, please DO NOT PARK on the side of the roads - this is your race course and you will be impeding the race flow, thanks!!

4. Biking before and after the event: the local police ask that you please obey traffic laws and wear a helmet when riding your bike before and after the event.

5. Toilets/Facilities: There will be portable toilets in the parking lot adjacent to the transition area and more restrooms and showers in the pool area near the packet pick up area.

6. All racers must wear an AMB timing chip to be scored. You will pick up your timing chip on race morning at the white tent behind the race finish line and return it at the race finish line. If you cannot complete the race, please turn your chip in at the finish line.

7. Wrist Bands: We will be placing a wrist band on each racer when you pick up your race packet. This wrist band is your "full access" pass to all areas of race weekend that are limited to racers, race staff, and race officials. Please keep this band on for identification purposes. It is intended to be for your safety and to control the race atmosphere. Thanks so much!

8. Packet Pick Up:  Packet Pick Up Opens at 5 pm on Friday and closes at 7 pm.  Race day packet pick up opens at 6:00 am and closes at 6:45 am.

9. Directions:

YAHOO! map

Cedars of Lebanon State Park is located approximately 31 miles east of Nashville in Wilson County. It is 6 miles south of I-40 on U.S. Highway 231 (State Route 10). From I-40, take exit number 238, go south on Hwy 231 (State Route 10.)  The entrance to the park will be on your left (or on the east side) of Hwy. 231. From the Murfreesboro area, just take Hwy. 231 North to the park.  If you are coming from Birmingham or Chattanooga area, you can take the new 840 from I-65 or I-24.  840 is only a couple of miles west I-40 exit 238.  OR, for a real short cut....if you are traveling from the Birmingham area or Chattanooga area, or in between...take I-840 from I-65 or I-24, then exit for the Nashville Speedway off of 840.  Go to Hwy 231, go north on 231, the park entrance will be on your right within a few miles.  This will take at least 10 minutes off of your drive.

10. Race Start Information:  You start the race by your assigned race number in approximately 5 second intervals, no moving positions for the start.

Thanks so much for racing with Team Magic!  Have a great race -
