Parking & Other Reminders
1. Please DO NOT PARK on the side of the main park roads or side roads - please use parking lots as you approach the staging area - parking on the side of the road will inhibit race flow and visibility - there are parking lots leading up to our race site, just a short walk back to the packet pick up and transition area
2. Please do not stop in front of the transition area to unload your things, this really gets traffic backed up and will affect other racers getting to packet pick up and getting ready for the race - thanks! Remember, you are doing a triathlon, walking your bike from the parking lot will be a nice warm up!
3. Trash & Recycling - we will provide containers for both. Please, please, please do the right thing and dispose of your trash in bags or containers provided and put your plastic and cans in the recycling bins. Nothing is worse than picking up a hot banana peel at the end of race day - help us out, thanks!
4. Award Ceremony - we will not be saving awards for those that cannot attend the award ceremony. If you do place to receive an award, please ask a friend to pick yours up. We really want you to stick around for post-race festivities and cheer on racers. Awards will take place as soon as possible after the last finisher - usually by 11 am.
5. Showers & Restrooms - there are shower and restroom facilities at the Double Oak Lake Beach Area - easy access from the parking lots you will be parking in.
6. Park Usage Fee - Show your race confirmation email to waive the $3 fee for Friday packet pick up, but you will have to pay the fee on Saturday - as noted above, please have correct change out and ready to help the park manage the "crunch time" arrival of racers - thanks!
7. Post-Race Food & Drinks - please note we will supply complimentary post race food and drinks for racers and volunteers, but will not have complimentary food for spectators, friends and family traveling with you. Please advise those with you to bring snacks and drinks. There are vending machines inside the main park office adjacent to the main race staging area. Thanks to Birmingham Coke and Tracy's of Crestline Village for sponsoring your post-race food and drink!

Map My Ride Course Maps With Elevation
Bike Course
Run Course
SWIM COURSE: 400 yards
The swim course is an open water swim in Double Oak Lake in Oak Mountain State Park. The water is always very calm. The calm water and the individual race start makes for a great open water swim for anxious racers or beginners. The swim start is an individual "time trial" type start. Each participant enters the water individually, approximately every 3 - 5 seconds. Your race number defines when you enter the water, with race number 1 being first. You enter the swim based on your race number, from lowest to highest number. Race Numbers are assigned based on your estimated swim time that you turned in on your entry form. Your racking position in transition is also organized by your race number.
BIKE COURSE: 13 miles
The bike course is on nicely paved roads with a bike lane in Oak Mountain State Park. Please use the bike lane when there is one available. For USA Triathlon rules, the bike lane will be considered staying to the far right, but you will not be penalized if you cross the white line that separates the bike lane from the main drive. The course a one loop / out-and-back course on the main park drive (Where Findlay Drive becomes Oak Mtn Park Road) and Oak Mtn Park Road (also known as Terrace Drive.) This beautiful course is moderately hilly with some nice fast sections as well.
RUN COURSE: 3 miles
The run course is out-and-back through the woods on a paved, but an unimproved road, so watch your footing. The run is a mix of flat and rolling sections.
There will be hydration stations as you exit the transition area, at the 1.5 mile turnaround and about half-way to the turnaround (will hit this one twice.)
EVENT TIMING & GETTING RESULTS & PHOTOS
We use electronic timing chips, TriTats Body Tattoos, helmet numbers, bike frame numbers, and bib numbers to insure we keep track of you during the race and provide you accurate results. Click HERE or on the image below to see what you need to expect to receive at race packet pick up and what to do to make sure we know who you are in this event.
