:: Plumgood GJCC Triathlon Race Confirmation ::

Date: May 24th 2007

Welcome to the Plumgood Food GJCC Memorial Day Triathlon!

We are so happy to have you racing with us. I am sure you know the race is SOLD OUT, so good work getting in early.

Your race packet pick up time is on Sunday from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the GJCC pool area parking lot. Registration is actually at the entrance to the AKIVA School which shares a parking lot with the outdoor pool. Race morning packet pick up is from 6:00 am to 7:00 am. It is very important that you claim your race packet and number BEFORE 7:00 am so we do not release your space to someone on the waiting list. There are currently over 50 people on the waiting list.

We really encourage you to come out and pick up your packets on Sunday and attend the race overview 4:30 pm in the race transition area. There are also some additional clinics going on Sunday. See below!

The following link is to basic pages from the race booklet you will receive at packet pick up: race timeline, maps, rules, parking info, etc... Please take the time to review this now, especially if you are picking up your packet on race morning.

THE BASICS:

1. You must present a photo i.d. and your USAT membership card (if you are a member) to receive your race packet. If you have lost your USAT card, please go to www.usatriathlon.org to print a temporary card.

If you do not have your USAT card, you will be required to pay the $10 one day fee. If you do not have a photo id, you will not be able to race.

If you are not a USAT member, you likely paid your $10 fee with your registration fee, if not, you will be asked to pay at packet pick up.

2. Parking: you will not be parking in the upper lot at the main GJCC facility and walking or riding your bike down the hill to the pool area and AKIVA school parking lot. This is the main staging area. Remember to wear your helmet ANYTIME you are on your bike.

3. Biking before and after the event: the local police ask that you please obey traffic laws and wear a helmet when riding your bike before and after the event.

4. Toilets/Facilities: The GJCC pool area has facilities for you. Please be very respectful and keep it clean!

5. All racers must wear an AMB timing chip to be scored. You will pick up your timing chip on race morning at the white tent behind the finish line and return it at the same location when you complete the race. If you cannot complete the race, please turn your chip in at this location.

6. Wrist Bands: We will be placing a wrist band on each racer when you pick up your race packet. This wrist band is your "full access" pass to all areas of race weekend that are limited to racers, race staff, and race officials. Please keep this band on for identification purposes. It is intended to be for your safety and to control the race atmosphere. Thanks so much!

Remember, you can always visit the race web page for complete race details: timeline, rules, maps, etc...

USA TRIATHLON AMBASSADOR PROGRAM AT GJCC TRIATHLON - CHECK IT OUT!

USA Triathlon staff will be attending the GJCC Memorial Triathlon for the purpose of conducting an Ambassador training session. Through this new program, USAT is looking for volunteers willing to give back to the world of multisport as USAT Ambassadors. Dubbed the “USAT Pit Crew”, members of this exclusive group will be trained to man their very own “USAT Fueling Stations” at local events, helping to give a better understanding to all multisport athletes about what USAT does to support them. Ambassadors are encouraged to also participate in events they work at (including this event), so any concerns about losing out on a race weekend are alleviated. After this weekend training session, Ambassadors will receive a special t-shirt and banner, and will be eligible to earn free items from USA Triathlon by working at future events! (Free items include USAT memberships and merchandise.) Following is the training schedule at this event:

Sunday, May 27th
10:30 AM – 1:30 PM: Classroom instruction
2:30 PM – 4:30 PM: On the job training at packet pick-up

Monday, May 28th
Approximately 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM (no more than one hour commitment after the race): Post-race on the job training

Consider giving back to the sport through this important initiative. Not only will you be earning free stuff, you’ll be having fun meeting athletes and helping multisport continue to thrive. Please email Jennifer@usatriathlon.org if you are interested in becoming a USAT Ambassador at this event or one in the future. More information can also be found in the Membership portion of our website, www.usatriathlon.org.
- Jennifer O-Day, USA Triathlon

That is it for now - see you Sunday/Monday!

Thanks for racing with us! We hope you have a great time.

See you at the races,

Faye Yates and Therese Bynum
