:: 2007 Powerman Weekend Message ::

Date: April 13th 2007

Hello from Team Magic –

Welcome to the Powerman Alabama and Whistlestop Duathlons!

Many of you have already received this message - just a final reminder for you and once again thanks for racing with us!

For those that have registered recently - welcome!

The following are basic pages from the race booklet you will receive at packet pick up: race timeline, maps, rules, parking info, etc...

Thanks for racing with us! We hope you have a great time.

Link to basic race instructions:

THE BASICS:

1. You must present a photo i.d. and your USAT membership card (if you are a member) to receive your race packet. If you have lost your USAT card, please go to www.usatriathlon.org to print a temporary card.

If you do not have your USAT card, you will be required to pay the $10 one day fee. If you do not have a photo id, you will not be able to race.

If you are not a USAT member, you likely paid your $10 fee with your registration fee, if not, you will be asked to pay at packet pick up.

2. Parking: please review the map provided in your race booklet. Do not park in areas not designated or you may be towed at your own expense.

3. Biking before and after the event: the local police ask that you please obey traffic laws and wear a helmet when riding your bike before and after the event. They reported bikers running traffic lights and stop signs on Saturday and after the race time on Sunday last year.

4. Portable Toilets: There are plenty, please use them! This race is located in a very residential area. We continue to receive complaints of racers “relieving themselves” publicly.

5. All racers must wear an AMB timing chip to be scored. You will pick up your timing chip on race morning at the white tent behind the finish line and return it at the same location when you complete the race. If you cannot complete the race, please turn your chip in at this location.

6. Volunteers: If you would like to help with the PowerKids race on Saturday or have someone traveling with you that would like to volunteer on Sunday, you can check in with someone at the registration area or sign up online at: http://team-magic.rd20.com/Volunteers/RegistertoHelp/tabid/144/EventID/34/Default.aspx

7. Swap Shop: The Vulcan Triathletes will have a booth at the expo and will manage a “SWAP SHOP” for you to sell or trade used multisport equipment and gear. They will be set up on Saturday only, so be sure to retrieve your goods or money by 7 pm on Saturday.

8. Wrist Bands: We will be placing a wrist band on each racer when you pick up your race packet. This wrist band is your "full access" pass to all areas of race weekend that are limited to racers, race staff, and race officials. Please keep this band on for identification purposes. It is intended to be for your safety and to control the race atmosphere. Thanks so much!

Remember, you can always visit the race web page for complete race details: timeline, rules, maps, etc...
